April 26, 2019 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Speaker: Dr. A. Janet Tomiyama (UCLA)

Title: Weight Stigma and Eating Behavior in Everyday Life

Description: Dr. A. Janet Tomiyama, Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of the Dieting, Stress, and Health Laboratory, will be visiting from UCLA and will be presenting on “Weight Stigma and Eating Behavior in Everyday Life.”

Over two-thirds of the US population is classified as having an "overweight" or "obese" Body Mass Index, and weight-related stigma is highly pervasive and poses a threat to health. This talk will describe a study that uses ecological momentary assessment to test hypotheses from the Cyclic Obesity/Weight-based Stigma Model about the biobehavioral consequences of experiencing weight stigma.
